As we wrap up this action packed year, we took some time to reflect on the incredible journey we've had since we launched our mainnet and we want to share some of the exciting initiatives we have coming for you next year as well as the our most recent updates and news. Lets jump right into it!
1. End of Year Review
As we wrap up the year, we are extremely proud of all the progress we have made in 2018. It’s been over a full year since POA Network launched its mainnet with 12 validators and a vision of a high-speed, low-cost network that would provide tools and transaction efficiency. Fast forward one year, and we’ve grown to support a new interoperability protocol, amazing DApp development and integration, and a thriving proof-of-authority consensus process which includes 23 validators! In a recent post, we shared some of the incredible accomplishments we made in 2018. To read the full most, click here!
2. Mana-Ethereum – Preparing for Constantinople Hard Fork
The Constantinople Hard Fork is scheduled to take place on the Ethereum Mainnet mid-January 2019, at block 7,080,000. Constantinople is an intentional upgrade — it’s been a part of the Ethereum roadmap since the beginning as it is the second part of a two-part update called “Metropolis.” Constantinople will introduce features to increase network efficiency, shrink the transaction costs of some smart contracts, and reduce mining rewards from 3ETH to 2ETH, further preparing the network for a transition to Proof of Stake validation that will come with the “Serenity” (also known as Casper) hard fork. To learn more about the upcoming changes to the protocol and describe how POA Network, Consensys, and Compound Finance are collaborating to develop Mana-Ethereum, a new open-source Ethereum client, click on the following link.
3. Nifty Wallet Upgrade
The latest version of Nifty Wallet, V4.10, can now process Ethereum smart contracts through the use of the Nifty Wallet browser extension. By adding this feature, external resources such as MyEtherWallet or MyCrypto are no longer needed to interact with smart contracts. By utilizing Nifty wallet, users can now save time and streamline the process of conducting transactions. Check out the full article here to learn more about the the latest Nifty release.
4. xDai Chain – Let the Decentralization Begin!
We’re excited to announce we have onboarded 3 additional entities that are playing the role of a validator for both the xDai Chain and the xDai Bridge. The addition of POA Network’s own validator node as well as validator nodes from Giveth and ProtoFire will now accompany MakerDAO as the 4 active validators on the xDai Chain and Bridge. Click here to learn more about the decentralization of xDai or each of the validators.
5. Santiment Devpost - November Edition
For the third straight month, POA Network has been featured as one of the top most-active ERC-20 projects. The November edition of the Santiment article focused on the current ongoing initiatives at POA Network such as the release of the ERC20-to-ERC20 TokenBridge and the newest version of BlockScout along with the development of the Honey Badger BFT. Check out the full Santiment Devpost here.
6. ERC20 to ERC20 TokenBridge Tutorial – Part 2
Earlier this month, Kauri, a community knowledge network, shared part two of their three part series on POA Network. Part two was focused on the POA Bridge and how assets and value can be transferred between a sidechain and a mainchain. The step-by-step tutorial shares thorough insight on how a user can successfully transfer ERC20 tokens via the POA bridge. To learn more, click on the following link.
7. Ethereum Meet-Up – December 7 2018
The latest Ethereum Meetup was held on December 7 in Berlin, Germany. As part of the meetup, founder of POA Network, Igor Barinov, gave a live presentation on xDai Chain and shared a live demonstration of transacting with xDai. The full presentation is available in the following YouTube link.
