xDai Burner Wallet Guide

One of the biggest restrictions for new participants to enter the cryptocurrency ecosystem is the difficulty and steep learning curve. Traditional wallets put a huge burden on the user to understand a new currency and deal with seed phrases. This inspired the creation of Burner Wallet. Burner Wallet enables users to exchange an intuitive currency like xDai using a simple and ubiquitous platform such as their mobile or desktop web browsers.

Users can transfer xDai from one-another within seconds with a simple QR code scan without downloading any applications or browser extensions. Users can even send value through messaging services like WhatsApp with a simple link!

Below is a guide on how to create, transfer, and send xDai tokens from your Burner Wallet.

Create your Burner Wallet

On your mobile device or web browser, go to https://xdai.io/. Your wallet has been created. Yes - it is that easy. Since your wallet’s private key is stored as a cookie in your browser’s cache, your browser will recognize your wallet everytime you load the URL.

NOTE: Please remember to sweep any value you hold to a cold wallet regularly and burn your ephemeral private key. A burner wallet is analogous to cash; you won’t carry too much because it can be lost but it’s astonishingly easy to exchange.

Receive xDai to your Burner Wallet

Step 1 - In order to receive xDai to your Burner Wallet, click on the Receive button in your wallet.

Step 2 - Either share your wallet address or your QR code with the user whom you want to receive xDai tokens from.

Step 3 - Once the user enters your wallet address or scans your QR code and confirm the transactions, your Burner Wallet will refresh with the updated xDai balance.

Step 4 - The transaction is complete. You can view your transaction history by clicking your unique profile display. A new BlockScout page will open up with all your transactions on the xDai Chain network.

I have been messing around with ENS in the burner wallet. I set up geoncoin.eth on ethereum main net and pointed the domain to the public resolver contract of 0xD3ddcCDD3b25A8a7423B5bEe360a42146eb4Baf3 and everything is working great. Thus it appears that burner wallet (and meta mask as well) is using the eth main net to resolve .eth domains to 0x… addresses correct? Also I found another public resolver contract at 0x5ffc014343cd971b7eb70732021e26c35b744cc4. Is there an official public resolver address that should be used?
