Oracles Network. News and updates #4

#1

Finally, it’s summer in California. But we are working hard to make the network happen.

R&D:

  • All our DApps now will work using Metamask. To change keys, vote, and see a list of validators will be no need to keep a blockchain node on a computer. And in future, it will be possible to use them on the phone.
  • We are trying to launch development test net (0xC0FFEE) but still have some problems on Parity side. It is good that we found those bugs in this stage and not in the future, for example, a blocker bug https://github.com/paritytech/parity/issues/5907

Website updates:

  • Updated DApps page https://oracles.org/apps.html . For each DApp there is a link to source code and a link to run the app.
  • Added “Validators” DApp on DApps page
  • Added “Management DApps” on DApps page. Added “Blockchain explorer” and “Network stats” DApps to “Management DApps category”
  • Added Dapphub logo on the main page https://oracles.org/index.html
  • Added nice animation “Welcome to decentralized future” on Tokens page near footer https://oracles.org/tokens.html
  • Added mystic animation on DApps page https://oracles.org/apps.html
  • Hid “Notary Journal” DApp because it is not a DApp.
  • Added new Favicons

Swag:

Will be shipped when I’ll get t-shirts and more swag

Looks good. Just went to check out some of the dApps. Looks like we’ll need to connect to the Oracle network in order to interact with anything in the “oracles network” section right?

Also, was trying out some of the other dapps, like “proof of phone” – really good stuff. UX is very solid. Interested to see the “proof of location dApp, have a buddy that is really excited about location verification stuff”

I feel like this project has more work behind it than most ICOs. On that subject though, the fee to validate a phone is like $30 – is that intentional or just that you made it so long ago that at the time .1 ETH wasn’t that much.

After looking at the code, it looks arbitrary. Like you just receive whatever amount is sent:

function () { addresses[msg.sender] = PhonePayment({phone: 0, payment: msg.value/100000000000000000, data: msg.data}); }

and then the “owner” just will manually add them by calling

function newPhoneToAddr(address addr, uint phone) {
if (msg.sender != owner) return;
addresses[addr] = PhonePayment({phone: phone, payment: 0, data: dataEmpty});
phones[phone] = addr;
}

So the .1 ETH really isn’t a requirement at all except to sway the owner to actually add them is that right?

Swag looks good :slight_smile:

Thank you for your comments!

Yes, we will provide a custom Metamask client and when the network will be mature, we will add our networks to the original Metamask client. [quote=“johndangerstorey, post:2, topic:61”]

Thank you, this app won ConsenSys prize on the last year Consensus Event in NYC.[quote=“johndangerstorey, post:2, topic:61”]

Would love to hear your buddy’s ideas about proof of location. Could you please invite him to the forum?[quote=“johndangerstorey, post:2, topic:61”]

It’s based on one year ago price and it was $1.00 that time. Lol, now it’s too expensive. The good news is that we will remove that fee from the next version of the oracle. A user will only pay to execute transaction on the network.[quote=“johndangerstorey, post:2, topic:61”]

You are right! It wasn’t a requirement. More like a donation.

Can I send it to ConsenSys address in Brooklyn?
What’s your T-shirt size?

Aaand… Preview of very new stickers:

P.S.
btw we launched the first “dev test net” today! :champagne: http://devtestnet.oracles.org:3000/

Great progress! Is there a doc to get into devtestnet?

I’ll try to add him. I shared the link with him and was going to let him initiate talking if he wanted to get involved somehow, but I can do a little prodding. I visit the Brooklyn office every once in a while, but am actually based out of Utah. The shirt I’m totally down for (Large) – but I don’t really do too much with the sticker stuff. Exciting news about the testnet :slight_smile:

#6

Thank you. It’s a very internal testnet at the moment and we reinstall it every day.

We will publish docs with keys after we will add modified metamask + blockchain explorer for the testnet. ETA Wed/Th this week.

It will be great to hear his ideas about “proof of”

Please send me your address in PM and I’ll send the t-shirt :slight_smile:
