In order to continue advancing our collective vision of a robust and trustless digital economy, POA Network is excited to announce a new partnership with Pocket Network! As the options to access digital assets become more diverse, so must the level of decentralization on which they operate. With this in mind, Pocket is integrating its services into Nifty wallet, providing users with an easy option to connect to a decentralized relay network.
With this integration, Nifty wallet users now have the freedom to select the Pocket Network to relay their requests across the POA blockchain. In addition, any POA node servicing the network can be configured to use Pocket, creating a decentralized option for POA applications.
By enabling this functionality within Nifty Wallet, we have launched a safeguard against the risk of full-node centralization that many other major networks are dealing with. Increasing full-node counts creates a healthy, censorship-resistant infrastructure, and is critical for the future success of public blockchains.
“The POA team is laying the foundation for mainstream blockchain adoption with their innovations in scalability and connectivity, not to mention managing the ever-awesome xDAI StableCoin. We couldn’t be more excited to contribute a decentralized infrastructure feature to their Nifty Wallet with Pocket Network and are looking forward to continued work together as we usher in a better web.” - Michael O’ Rourke – Pocket Network CEO
Because Pocket Network is new to the ecosystem, this feature for Nifty Wallet is considered ‘in beta’. Early adopters will help shape this technology, and we are working collaboratively to create sustainable decentralization. Your early support goes a long way!
Instructions to switch networking in Nifty Wallet to a decentralized provider (Pocket)
The switch itself is very simple.
- Download Nifty Wallet through the Google Chrome store.
Go to your settings.
Check the “Switch to Decentralized Provider (Pocket)” checkbox and you will connect to Pocket network automatically on any supported networks (Such as POA, xDai and Ethereum). This will not interrupt the connection to other networks that Pocket is not currently supporting.
That’s it! You are now supporting the push to keep blockchains, and their infrastructure decentralized just by using Nifty Wallet.
We’ll be releasing more tutorials soon, as well as news related to future collaborations between POA Network and Pocket. Stay tuned!
About POA Network
POA Network develops products for people who believe that the Ethereum protocol must be cheap, fast and scalable. POA Network has a growing ecosystem of open-source projects that deliver key solutions for the Ethereum community including the open-source full-featured block explorer BlockScout, an array of Bridges for interoperability between EVM chains powered by the TokenBridge and Nifty Wallet to focus on usability of real-world applications.
